Should I move?
1) Lay three cards representing the advantages.
Some of what you see here will be predictable, as you’ve probably been mulling over advantages to moving since the idea occurred to you. But you might find a surprise or two, something that you hadn’t thought of.
2) Lay three cards to represent the disadvantages.
Some of what you see here will be obvious. After all, moving (whether across town, or across country) is disruptive and is a milestone in our life. But something else might pop up that you weren’t expecting. The important thing about this reading, about all readings you’re doing for yourself, is to be open to anything you might see. You have to be able to have enough grasp on your emotions and mentality to squelch any preconceived ideas or scenarios.
3) Lay one card for the final outcome.
I would strongly suggest that most people reading for themselves combine this card with a yes/no answer, just in case anyone using this spread is not experienced with reading the tarot, or lack the ability to step outside themselves for an objective view.
My Spirit Guide: How do I connect?
1) Lay three cards representing your spiritual path.
Even if you think you know why you believe what you believe, you might be pleasantly surprised to find that the influence and meaning of your spiritual practices runs deeper than you think and rises from areas within your being that you were not even aware of and that you may very well learn from.
2) Lay three cards representing feminine spiritual guidance.
Do you have a patron goddess? Have you ever even thought about it? If you don’t and you haven’t, you will now. She’s there. She’s been there all along, whether as a vague misty childhood memory, as an obsessive interest or passion, or as a quiet influence in your life, often popping up as an unexpected image in unusual ways and in the most unusual places.
3) Lay three cards representing masculine spiritual guidance.
Just as with the feminine influence revealed in step #2, these cards will point you towards your patron god and may even trigger suppressed memories of images, angels, beings, and spirits that you’ve encountered or dreamed throughout your life. As with the goddess, the god has always been there, your mind’s eye just might have been closed to the possibility.
4) Lay three cards representing your animal totem.
Surprisingly, people are more often able to connect and recognize an animal spirit or guide rather than a temporal god, goddess, or angelic being. Our connections with the animal world run deep, and our association with a particular animal and their spirit begin very early in life.
5) You will lay six cards now in what I call a window, a revealing spread of cards that will give you insight into the matter at hand. These six cards are laid in the form of an inverted pyramid: three cards making up the top row; two cards the middle row; and one card at the bottom, to complete the pyramid.
I use this pyramid window often, it is an open doorway, a gift from the tarot.
My dream: What does it mean?
Dreams are so enigmatic and so subjective that I have never used a dream dictionary or reference book. I’ve browsed through a few out of curiosity, but I quickly discovered that my associations with an object, an animal, or a situation, might mean something completely different to me than it did to the author of the reference book. I have, however, used the tarot cards to give me insight into my dreams, particularly dreams that seem to have a purpose: prophetic dreams to enlighten me or to warn me of something, past life dreams that have given me a glimpse into my own phobias and déjà vu moments, and dreams that appear to be messages from the deceased.
1) Lay a window, the six card tarot pyramid, as I described previously.
Take your time and study these cards, sit with a cup of coffee or tea perhaps, and let your mind relax and wander. You might be very surprised to discover that information which was coming to you in your dream will continue and expand while you are immersed in this reading. Sometimes I do this with a pen and notebook in hand, and I jot down particular bits of information or revelations that come to me consciously during this reading.
Finding Lost Objects
1) Lay one card for every possible location you have thought of.
Lay these cards in a straight row. Include in this row of cards any location that may have popped into your head, even if you don’t logically think that it’s correct. We’re here to listen to your sub-conscious mind, not the logical side of yourself, which often thinks inside the box by habit.
2) Lay three cards representing the actual location of the missing object.
Do any of these three cards share a connection with one of the cards you laid in step one? If so, this is where you’ll find the missing object. This type of reading is one where the connection you might see is either whimsical, a quick and unexpected recognition between two images on a pair of cards; or it might be that little voice in your head that suddenly speaks up with a suggestion.
Will my project be successful?
1) Lay three cards representing your goals for this project.
2) Lay three cards representing any obstacles to this project.
3) Lay a pyramid window for more insight into the project and it’s future as a whole.
Now may be a good time to lay one card for a yes-no answer.
